We were founded by people who lived inside the system that wasn't working — and decided to build what was missing.
The problem we set out to fix
The mental health landscape for Indian organizations was broken, filled with superficial metrics and lacking clinical depth.
GAP 01
No clinical foundation
No B2B player offering scientifically grounded clinical care. Sessions delivered without clinical structure, without standards, without supervision. Counselling treated as conversation — not as clinical work.
GAP 02
No outcomes measurement
Nobody studying outcomes against international standards. Sessions counted, satisfaction surveys collected, but no clinical signal — whether employees were actually getting better, whether the programmes were actually working.

Counsellor capability gaps
Many counsellors unable to interpret validated clinical assessments. The line between counselling and coaching blurred — no clarity on which is appropriate when, and no ICF-grade coaching standards being followed.

"Unlimited sessions"
Operationally impossible at any scale that wasn't quietly designed for low utilisation. The headline number was the giveaway: programmes built so employees wouldn't actually use them, and wouldn't get results if they did.

Misunderstood ROI
Some platforms measuring ROI as "4× the cost of a single counselling session" — a misinterpretation of how workforce mental health ROI actually works. The industry didn't know how to measure its own value.

From inside the system that wasn't working.
Srinivasa Rao Pattapusetti spent years inside multinational companies as an employee — and later, leading his own ventures as a serial entrepreneur. In both lives, he watched the same thing happen: colleagues unable to focus on work because of personal challenges they couldn't address. Employees in his own teams quietly struggling, with nowhere meaningful to turn. The workforce mental health support that existed wasn't built for either group. The system wasn't designed to actually help.
PART 2 — SIX YEARS OF PREPARATION
Refill Health wasn't a casual entrepreneurial pivot.
Before founding the company, Srinivasa Rao spent six years studying clinical psychology and professional coaching — convinced that workforce mental health in India was failing not for lack of available knowledge, but because nobody had translated that knowledge into a B2B platform that takes it seriously.
